Life Legacy


Age 81, of Weyauwega, passed to his heavenly home unexpectedly at Crystal River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. He was born on June 8, 1928 in the Town of Union, Waupaca County, son of the late Louis and Clara (Van Raalte) Fuhs. He was raised by his mother and grandparents, John and Bessie Van Raalte, on the family farm until he married Verlaine Yonke on October 15, 1949. He pursued a career in farming for several years after their marriage, and then moved to the City of Weyauwega in 1960. He was employed at Benson Corp. in Weyauwega until March of 1967 when he started working for the Neenah Foundry where he retired in 1993 after 26½ years of service. Through the years he was also self-employed dehorning cattle and digging graves at numerous cemeteries in Waupaca and Portage Counties. Everett was an esteemed member of the Community of Weyauwega. He and his wife Verlaine served as King and Queen of Horse & Buggy Days in October of 2000. He was a member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega since his marriage to Verlaine in 1949. He served as President of his AAL Branch for over 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Verlaine; daughters: Evelyn (Roger) Trice, New London; Lorraine (Tony) Penn, Weyauwega; 10 grandchildren: Jodi Luedke, Waupaca; Laurie Claussen, New London; Kelli (Keith) Kosmosky, Stockbridge; Dan (Nicole) Claussen, Weyauwega; Jon Claussen, Waupaca; Shane Luedke, Weyauwega; Amy (Chris) Suess, Clintonville; Nicole Luedke, Green Bay; Tony Luedke, Weyauwega; Jered Luedke, Wausau; 16 great Grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, six step grandchildren and twelve step great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Dave (Beverly) Yonke and a sister-in-law Agnes Gerritt Fuhs. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son Daniel Fuhs, parents Louis and Clara Fuhs, grandparents John and Bessie Van Raalte, two brothers Elmer and Alvin, son-in-law Arthur Claussen, sisters-in-law Yvonne Soerens and Marge Fuhs.

The Christian Funeral for Everett will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Dennis Lemke and Rev. Robbin Robbert officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 3-7 p.m. and at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Crystal River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waupaca for all they did to make Everett’s stay with them a pleasant experience. Also thank you to the many doctors, nurse and respiratory therapists at Riverside Medical Center Everett considered his friends after many visits there!
