Alden "Gomer" Charles Hanes, age 79 of Weyauwega, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2022 at home.  Alden was born on June 16, 1943 in the Town of Royalton, to the late Francis and Agnes (Walbruck) Hanes.  He married Shirley Haase on December 11, 1965 at First Methodist Church in New London. Alden served in the National Guard for six years, worked as a meat cutter for Scandinavia Food Land and as a forklift driver at Hillshire; before retiring in 2007.  Alden enjoyed hunting with his wife, family and friends; watching NASCAR and football, as well as spending many hours in the boat fishing with close friends on the Wolf River.

Alden is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; son, Heath (Barb) Hanes; daughter, Shelly (Cary) Fuhs; grandchildren, Alizabeth Hanes, Scott (Victoria) Nett, Dustin (Stephanie) Hanes, Dakota Nett, Brandon Hanes, Caitlin and Conner Fuhs; great-grandchildren, Emma and Alena Nett and Aurora Hanes; brothers-in-law, Merrill Larson, Leo Haase, Dave Haase, Roger Haase and Dennis (Cindy) Haase and sisters-in-law, Marcella (Ronald) Schmidt and Mary (Roger) Fahser.  Alden is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Alden was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, George Haase and Audrey (Herman) Seegers; sisters, Marilyn Larson, Pat Schuelke, Fran "Honey" Moeller and Sharon Ferge and brother-in-law, Robert Haase.

The memorial service for Alden will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London.  The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
