Anne Ernst, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at her home on February 27, 2025 with her loving family by her side.
Anne was born in Chicago on January 1, 1935 to Kazimieras and Karolyn Sirma. A gifted student, Anne's early years were shaped by the Sisters of St. Casimir at the Nativity B.V.M.Catholic Elementary School. In 1948, she moved with her parents to a beautiful farm outside of Hortonville. Hortonville would be her home for the remainder of her life.
She graduated as Valedictorian with the Hortonville High School Class of 1952. She married Marvin Ernst in 1952 and spent the next several years raising her family. In 1965, Anne was hired by Kimberly Clark where she had a long and rewarding career until her retirement in 1999.
Anne had many interests and passions, first and foremost being her family. She regularly sent cards to her grandsons. She also loved nature. Things that brought a smile to her face were the bustle at her winter bird feeder, the playful antics of squirrels, the comfort of a cat purring in her lap, or the trumpeting call of sandhill cranes. She was proud of her Lithuanian heritage and stayed connected to the Lithuanian community in Chicago throughout her years.
Anne was deeply religious and supported SS Peter & Paul Parish in Hortonville, the Sisters of St. Agnes in Fond du Lac, and the Sisters of St. Casimir in Chicago. She prayed the rosary on a daily basis.
Despite health challenges later in life, she always maintained her optimism, her sense of humor, and her devotion to God. A special thank you to her daughter Susan and grandson Nathan for the compassion, loving care, and unwavering support they provided to Anne in her later years right up to her last breath. They shared meals, had animated conversations, shared observations on what was occurring with the wildlife outside her window, and talked about earlier days, all of which lifted Anne's spirits and brightened her days.
Anne is survived by her four children: daughter Susan Ambrose, son David (Claudia), son John (Katie) and son Randy (Diane); her "baseball team" of grandsons: Patrick, Allen, Brad (Andrea), Adam (Maggie), Nathan, Thomas, Tyler (Brittany), Josh (Kate) and Travis; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Marvin, and a brother who died in childbirth.
A service for her family celebrating Anne's life will take place at a later date. Prayers for Anne are very much appreciated.
