Ardeen Miller Hofberger's Funeral Service Video

Ardeen Miller Hofberger, age 93, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, while still living in her home.  Ardeen was born into life on July 20, 1929 in Appleton to the late Lester and Lilly Riesenweber.  She married Stanley Miller in 1948.  He preceded her in death in 1973.  She married Ralph Hofberger in 1979; he preceded her in death in 2005.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  Ardeen will always be remembered as a hard worker.  She always needed to keep busy, as there was always work to be done.  There was no task too big or too difficult.  She loved mowing her lawn to perfection and keeping her home spotless.  (This was not your version of spotless, but a whole new level, none of us know.)  We'd often lovingly say, "You could eat off her garage floor." And you could!  Ardeen was very strong-willed and independent, not just in her younger days, but until the very end.  She never slowed down, even when her body told her to.  Ardeen baked the best pecan pie you've ever had in your life.  It was almost too good, as once you had hers, you wouldn't bother eating it from anywhere else.  Everything she baked was always made from scratch and perfectly delicious.  Her basement was immaculately filled with her canning goods that tasted better than even the recipe allowed.  For many years, Ardeen was a poll worker for the township of Hortonia.  She had sass, character and charm.  Despite her tiny size, she was never afraid to speak up and brought a larger than life presence with her. Ardeen loved God, and her faith was always a priority.  We envision her now walking as straight as an arrow, hand-in-hand with our Savior.

Ardeen is survived by her three sons, Jerold (Bonnie) Miller, Keith (Becky) Miller and Randy (Laurie) Miller; her three step-children, Randy (Sue) Hofberger, Joni (Greg) Mathewson and Lynn Klotzbuecher; her five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; a sister, LaVonne Brock and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ardeen was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; four sisters; six brothers-in-laws; one sister-in-law and one special step-son-in-law, Larry Klotzbuecher.

The funeral service for Ardeen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at First Congregational United Church of Christ (110 E. Hancock St.) in New London with Rev. Dr. Steve Savides.  Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

A special thank you to Dr. Ganser of Encircle Health, as well as the ProMedica Hospice Staff.  Also, thank you to stepdaughter, Lynn, for taking care of mom during her last days.

Ardeen will never be forgotten and will be deeply loved.  She will be missed today and always.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ in New London.
