Obituary

Arlene Birkholz passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born on June 15th, 1932, in Waupaca, Wisconsin to Arthur Cruger and Mabel Nollenberg. She married Fred, the love of her life, on January 21st, 1950, in Weyauwega, Wisconsin and they spent many years together.

Nothing was more important to her than family, her Pine Tree family included. Her smile and laugh lit up every room she walked into, she and Fred turned the small Pine Tree Bar into a Supper Club and gathering place for the whole community.

Arlene and Fred had five children together, Sandy Romberg (Tom), Corinne (Kim) Dorsey, Debbie (Steve) Drath, Sue (Greg) Wood, and Mark; along with a plethora of grandchildren, Bret (Janalea), Jodi (Craig), Cora (David), Tara (Marc), Lance (Jessica), Alyssa (Ryan), Kim (Bobbi Jo), Amber (Brian), Tristan (Jessy), Ted (Meadow), Dustin (Brittney); as well as 20 great- grandchildren, special friend of her son, Debbie; numerous other relatives and friends. With special mention of Arlene’s two special friends Mary Colligan and Kathy Mackey.

Arlene is preceded in death by her husband Fred, son Mark, parents Arthur and Mabel and son in law Harold.

Funeral service will be Thursday July 30th at Emanual Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. with Visitation at 9:00 a.m. until time of service; burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega.

Thank you cannot express the family’s gratitude towards the staff at ThedaCare Hospice, Trinity Terrace Staff, and Community Care Staff as well as all the visitors who brought her Sweet Treats.
