Obituary

Barbara Peterson's Funeral Service Video The world lost a beloved mother and grandmother, Barbara (Mullins) Peterson, on March 23, 2022. She battled and overcame many obstacles, but it never stopped her from giving out the best hugs.

Barbara, 86, was born On December 15, 1935, in Hertfordshire, England to Ella (Willson) and Frank Mullins of Hertfordshire, England. In December 1953, she married the love of her life, Delbert D. Peterson, in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. In 1954, Del brought his bride, "Mullins", to the United States where they built their home and grew their family.

Barb's life was full of adventure and happiness, but the greatest of these was her family. She was active in her church, loved camping with family and friends, attending the grandchildrens' activities, reading, dancing, gardening, attending the women's aqua swimming class, the coffee clutch, and all animals, especially her beloved dog, Missy-Anne.

She will be deeply missed by her children: Steve (Cilla) Peterson, Dan (Barb) Peterson, Mark (Julie) Peterson, and Christine (Don) Nennig; her grandchildren: Ashley (Mike) Fager; Evan Peterson (Mariah Winter); Jessie (Julie Ullrich) Peterson, Sarah (Steve) Gasper; Ryan (Jessica) Peterson, Kyle (Abbey) Peterson, Sarah (Brett) Sheleski, Rebecca Kettner (Jon Smith), Anna (Mike) Kahler; Angela Piechocki (Eric Schroeder), Kyle Nennig, Cody Piechocki, Keith Nennig and Kevin Nennig. She is further survived by 21great-grandchildren; a sister, Christine (Steve) Pettit of Scotland; a brother, Steven (Pat) Mullins, Scotland; and a brother-in-law, Winston (Jean) Peterson, Michigan, and many special nieces, nephews and blessed friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert D. Peterson; her parents, Ella (Willson) and Frank Mullins; a sister, Brenda (Mullins) Tucker, as well as many, beloved brother- and sister-in-laws.

We will be celebrating Barb's life this Saturday, March 26, 2022, at United Church of Christ, 110 E Hancock St., New London, with Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating.  Viewing at 9:30 am until the time of service at 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service. A luncheon to follow at United Church of Christ.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to ThedaCare's Dr. Scott Hetzel and the ICU staff in Berlin for their exceptional care, compassion and support.

God looked around his garden- And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth- And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you- And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful- He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering- He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never– Get well on earth again
He saw the road was getting rough– And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids– And whispered, 'Peace be thine'.
It broke our hearts to lose you– But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you– The day God called you home. –Anonymous
