Betty Friemark's Funeral Mass Video

At the young age of 93, God called Betty home, to reunite with her husband Alvin, and to walk the railroad tracks in heaven together, hand in hand, listening to the song, "Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree With Anyone Else But Me", which she listened to daily while Al was stationed in the US Army in Germany so many years ago, and many days since his passing in 2010.

Betty, born December 30, 1930 was the 3rd child born to David and Louise Zehner, in Dale, and lived nearly her whole life on the Zehner Addition in Dale.  Betty took great pride in the fact that her Grandfather David Zehner, was one of the first settlers in Dale and spent a great deal of her life helping to preserve the history of the town she always called home.  Being the baby of the family, she felt she had to prove what a smart, hardworking, honorable, kind and generous woman she is.

Betty attended Dale Graded School for grades 1-8, and then went on to be a 1948 graduate at New London High School with admirable grades.  She then went on to work at Hortonville Canning Factory in the plant and then the office and then on to work at Zwicker's Knitting Mill.  Betty decided that education is where she wanted to be and began her journey in September 1949 as she enrolled at Outagamie Rural Normal School, working for her teaching degree, where she made many lifelong friends.

She waited for the love of her life to return from Germany, and married Al in August of 1953 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville. They were blessed with five children and spent 57 wonderful years together until his death.  Betty spent her teaching career teaching at one-room school houses – Clover Leaf, Hickory Grove, both in Dale and then Happy Valley, Sunny View and Cedar Grove, all in Greenville.  She then moved to many years at Hortonville Elementary, St. Thomas More in Appleton, Holy Rosary in Kewaunee and finished her long and wonderful career at Most Precious Blood in New London.  Aside from teaching and parenting, she was also running to her schools many sporting events and extra curricular events, taught CCD at church, was a member of Royal Neighbors of America, Dale Historical Society, Outagamie Retired Education Association, Dale Homemakers and the Ladies Society.  Betty loved to travel and took every opportunity to do so.  Being a teacher let her have all summer, so as a family we traveled every summer somewhere, and after retirement she took every chance to go go go – with friends or out west with Val, California and Ohio with Veronica, New Orleans with Vicki and trips to friend's cottages.  If you offered, she was packed and ready to go.

Betty is survived by her three daughters, Valerie (Dan) Peeters, Victoria (Scott) Nelson and Veronica (Steve) Koske; daughter-in-law, Lanette Friemark; ten grandchildren, Travis (Kristin) Koske, Nathan (Tiffany) Koske, Nicole Mohr, Philip, Bartholomew, Benjamin Nelson, Katie (Jason) Long, Adam (Aleah), Jordan (Katie) and Luke (Tracy) Friemark as well as 16 great-grandchildren.  She adored and lived for every moment she had with each of them and were her pride and joy.

Betty was preceded in death by the love of her life, Alvin; sons, Arden and Vincent; her parents; in-laws, Charles and Edith Friemark; siblings, David and Lois, as well as Al's siblings and spouses.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Fr. John Kleinschmdt officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London and again at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.  Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Town of Dale.

Betty wishes to express her love and gratitude to all her students that passed thru her doors, she loved every minute teaching you and making a lasting impression in your lives.  All her lifelong friends for all the laughs and being with her through this journey called life.

She wished to express how much she loved each of her children who were always there, and was so proud of all their accomplishments and grateful to her daughters who held her hands and helped her through to her new life sending all their love with her.
