Obituary

Bruce Wayne Peebles, 80, of New London, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024 with his family at his side. He has been reunited with his brother Lynn, who preceded him in death. He was born on November 30, 1944 to the late Charlie and Gertie (Lenzer) Peebles.  Bruce (aka Nobbie) graduated from Hortonville High School with the Class of 1962.  He married the love of his life, and forever bickering partner, Darlene Warning (aka MAAAAAA!!).

Nobbie grew up as a farm boy and knew the value of hard work. He started his career at Simmons Wood Product and finished his career at Appleton Papers (Appvion) as a rewind operator. He was fortunate to retire at Appvion in 2007 after 40 years of service. In his retirement, he enjoyed taking care of his lawn and garden while bombing around on his tractor and mower.

The man would not sit still until Ma placed a warm meal in front of him. After his work was done, you could find him enjoying a brewski and stogie while sharing his colorful language and stories with family and friends.  Bruce had a passion for antique tractors and attended the Symco Thresheree every year. He loved listening to Johnny Cash and watching Clint Eastwood or John Wayne movies.   As a young boy, Bruce had to rewrite his history textbook and as a result, he was a lifelong history buff.

Bruce adored his family and never missed a holiday or opportunity to watch his children's and grandchildren's sporting or school activities. He was present for all of the family's everyday events.  Nobbie is survived by his wife Darlene (MAAAAA!) and his children Randy (Peggy), Laurie (Scott) Vander Velden, and Brian (Tracy); his grandchildren: Emily, Brianna, Rachel Lessor,  Autumn (fiancée Josh) Vander Velden, Alyssa (husband Nate) Tucker,  Bryce, and Alyssa Mae (Holly) Underwood; his great-grandchildren: Gio, TJ, and another baby on the way in May.  He is further survived by his sister Shirley (Chris) Velte, his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws: Terry (Bev) Warning, Mike (Ann) Warning, Sherry (friend Rob) Tessen, Bonnie (Kent) Fischer, and his nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death: father-in-law Arnold Warning, mother-in-law Beatrice Warning, and brother-in-law Tom Warning.

Bruce was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville. The Funeral service for Bruce will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28th, 2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville with Rev. Tristan Paustian officiating. The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Bruce's family wishes to thank the first responders and EMTs who came to his aid, as well as the doctors and staff at Theda Care New London and Theda Care Neenah ICU.
