Charles Alvin "Chuck" Ebert of New London, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 87. Chuck was born on May 20, 1938 in New London, to the late Carl and Hazel "Pat" Ebert. He married Audrey Knapp on June 21, 1958. Together they had three children.
Chuck graduated from Washington High School in New London in 1956. He enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school. Chuck was stationed in Chaumont, France where he was the youngest crew chief on a F-100 Fighter Jet. Chuck was employed at Max Air as a pilot and airplane mechanic, Shawano Flying Service, and Brennan Air Freight, before beginning his career with the Federal Aviation Administration in Milwaukee in 1982. He excelled as an accident investigator due to his excellent problem solving skills. Chuck received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the safety of aviation. Chuck retired in 2009. He enjoyed smoking his pipe and fishing.
Chuck is survived by his son, Mark (Kim) Ebert; his daughter, Lynn (Brian) Christensen; his daughter-in-law, Dale Ebert; his sister, Judith Campbell; his grandchildren, Justin (Kristen) Ebert, Ashley (David) Kalbus, and Brad Johnson; his great grandchildren, Henry Ebert and Amelia Ebert. He is further survived by his good friends, Jim Keenan, Darrell McCullion, Tom Lind, and many others from his years at the FAA.
Chuck was preceded in death by his son, James Ebert; and his brother-in-law, Howard Campbell.
Per Chuck's wishes, a private family burial will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Turney Hill Cemetery, in the Town of Liberty.
