Charles "Chuck" Sausen, age 87 of Black Creek, passed away on Saturday October 26, 2024. He was born in Chicago on April 1, 1937 to the late Henry and Mary (Barbieur) Sausen, and grew up in the Shiocton countryside. Chuck loved spending time in the "Heaven on Earth" that he created at his home. Digging ponds and building the largest sledding hill in the county for his grandkids were daily tasks in his retirement. He stocked the ponds with fish and created a safe haven for ducks, geese, swans and many other wildlife to live. He loved to sit and watch the geese fly in every night, feed the deer, and he opened his fishing ponds to neighbors and friends so others could enjoy the solitude and share in his love of nature and wildlife.

For over 50 years, Chuck was a successful but shrewd businessman, putting everything he had into his companies Country Farms, Globe Equipment, and CS Parts, even into retirement.  He was a pioneer in the resale of used farm equipment and parts that were shipped to farmers and dealers around the world. Chuck enjoyed haggling with the farmers to get the best price, whether he was buying or selling. He was always looking for that next big auction, to catchup with his cronies and bid on that next pile of "junk" that had that one item that he wanted. Chuck was also a real estate investor, opening Universe II Realty in the 80's and CS Rentals. He owned land and rental properties across the state, wherever he could get that "great deal".

Chuck is survived by his children, Cheryl (Doug) Pahlow, Suzanne (Corey) Cox, and Michael (Amy) Sausen; their mother Marilyn Sausen; 7 grandchildren, Brock (Faith) Pahlow, Alexa (Ryan) Rohm, Lauren Hollie, Makenna Cox, Jaxon Cox, Sydney Sausen, and Ethan Sausen; 5 great grandchildren, Hank & Tate Rohm, Dexton, Piper & Rhea Pahlow; his brother Henry Jr (Betty) Sausen; and special friend & companion Marianne Black.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother Frank Sausen, sister-in-law Mavis Sausen, granddaughter Emily Katherine Cox and infant son Peter Charles Sausen.

A special thank you to Marianne, Jessica and all the staff at St Joseph Residence for the care and compassion they showed our dad during this difficult time.

Visitation will take place on November 10, 2024 from 1pm-3pm at Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Shiocton, followed by a short prayer service, then a procession to the cemetery.

A little wisdom Chuck would often share with his family: "Remember, never sit with your back to the door!" and "Always look out for #1…". He lived with no regrets and was very proud of his family and everything he had accomplished in his life, especially his "Heaven on Earth"!
