Obituary

Charles Virgil Schwandt was born on April 2, 1940.  He went peacefully to his savior on January 5, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.

He attended Shiocton Elementary and High School in Shiocton.  Following high school, Chuck took an office training program and then began a career in the trucking industry.  He worked for several trucking firms with most time spent at Consolidated Freightways and Roadway Trucking. Chuck retired from Roadway in 2002.

Chuck was united in marriage to Audrey Buss on November 29, 1958.  They were blessed with two sons, Rick and Scott.  They enjoyed family time together camping, fishing and attending sporting events.  Chuck was an accomplished gardener with a large garden that provided vegetables for family and friends with enough left over to can.  He also enjoyed fishing on the wolf river with his wife and friends on their houseboat.

Chuck was a big sports fan following the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers.  One of his memorable moments was attending the ice bowl in Lambeau Field with a couple of his close friends.  Packer parties with close friends were also a weekly event during Packer season with halftime touch football games.

Chuck also loved to get in the car and drive taking several trips across the U.S.  Sometimes he would head out by himself and other times he went with friends.  He plotted the trips out and hit the road. He would have interesting stories to tell when he got back from his trips.  He also would jump in the car and head north to his son's cottage and spend time fishing with an occasional trip to the casino.

Chuck is survived by his son Rick (Lynn) of Appleton; his son Scott of Appleton; two grandchildren Stephen (Cassie) Schwandt of Appleton and Alyssa Schwandt of Appleton and two great-grandchildren Elise and Keston; his sister Diane (Pete) Lutz of Little Chute, his sister-in-law Barbara (Jerry) Plamann of Appleton, sister-in-law Maxine Buss of Argonne, brother-in-law Don Guyette of Black Creek and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Audrey, his parents, Virgil and Doris (Johnson) Schwandt, Audrey's parents, Alice and Clarence Buss, Herb Fisher, Darley Patton, Brothers-in-law Joe Buss, Robert Guyette, and Wayne Brugger, and sister-in-law Betty Guyette.

A Memorial Service for Chuck will be held at Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home, Shiocton, on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 4:30 pm with Rev. Paul Hinz officiating.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the memorial service from 2-4:30 pm.  Chuck's internment will be at the Shiocton Bovina Cemetery in the spring of 2022 in anticipation of the last day when all saved in Christ will be raised from the dead and given new bodies.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be collected and directed by the family in memory of Chuck.  Chuck was so grateful for all the support and prayers from family and friends during his battle with cancer.  Special thanks to ThedaCare Hospice who provided exceptional love and care during this time.
