Obituary

Christopher Bangart's Funeral Mass Video Chris Bangart, age 77, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 25, 2021.  He was born in Appleton at St. Elizabeth's hospital on February 16, 1944, son of the late Joseph and LaVerne (Schmidt) Bangart, and was the third of seven siblings.  He grew up in rural Menasha and attended elementary school at Holy Angels in Darboy.  Chris continued his education at Salvatorian Seminary in St. Nazianz.  As a young man, he started working at Thiel Cheese Factory before joining the Marines, where he became a radio operator in Vietnam.  Chris married the love of his life, Nora Maloney on September 12, 1964; they were married nearly 50 years before her death in 2014.  Through Nora, Chris was loved by the entire Maloney family.  When he returned home he started working for Appleton Papers, but for most of his life, he was with Aflac and Future Financial Resource Group as a salesman.  Chris certainly had "the gift of gab" his clients knew him and trusted him when he sold insurance; he was more than just an agent.  In Chris' younger years he enjoyed figure-eight racing against his brothers, woodworking, and being active in the Foresters.  He was an active member at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a loyal member of the Knights of Columbus for decades.  You could often find him working a brat booth or selling raffle tickets.  Chris also enjoyed golfing, playing cribbage, and dominoes.  He was an expert gardener and canner and often gave way much of his bounty to the local food pantry, family, and friends.  He was an excellent cook and treasured time spent with his boys and grandchildren.  Chris will be remembered fondly as the man who would welcome you into his home, tell a few stories, and share one of his many homemade soups; and he wouldn't let you walk away without buying a raffle ticket, of five.  He was generous with his talents, visitors would often leave with a to-go dish and his homegrown vegetables or canned goods as gifts.  He was a stranger to no one and treated everyone equally.  His generosity, hospitality, and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Chris is survived by a loving family that includes two sons, Joe Bangart, Hortonville, Mike (Danielle) Bangart, Little Chute, and their children, Abby and Aaron.  Chris is also survived by two brothers, Joseph Bangart, and his children Randi and Reed, and Anthony (Sandy) Bangart, and their sons, Larry and Erik; a sister-in-law Beverly Bangart, her children Amy and Missy; two former sisters-in-law, Pat Bangart and Barb Case and her children Scott and Brian; brother-in-law, Albert Hull and nieces Dawn, Lauri, and Catherine.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Raymond, Ronald, and Allen, his sister Doreen, his niece Michelle, and his beloved wife Nora and their son Christopher.

Funeral services for Chris will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Hortonville with Fr. Phil Schoofs officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider giving to one of Chris' favorite charities, St. Josephs Food Pantry, SS Per & Paul Catholic Church, or the Knights of Columbus.
