Claire Baehman, 93 of Wausau, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 27, 2025. Claire was born October 16, 1931, in West Bloomfield to Clarence and Dora (Timm) Baehman. Claire graduated from Washington High School in New London in 1949. He married Hope June Holloway on June 23, 1951, at Unity Ev. Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Claire was employed in the woodworking industry his entire career, beginning in New London with McGraw-Edison (The Simmons Co.) and retiring with Kolbe & Kolbe Windows in Wausau.
Claire was an avid sportsman; he enjoyed ski-jumping, hunting, fishing, golfing, trap & skeet shooting, baseball and watching the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers on TV.
Claire is survived by four children: Gregory (Kathleen) Baehman, Wausau; Michael (Connie) Baehman, Green Bay; James (Wendy) Baehman, Inver Grove Heights, MN; and Heidi (Jeff) Stodola, Sturgeon Bay. Eight grandchildren: Aubrey (Barry) Schramm, Alyssa (Dale) Verhasselt, Brooke Lassila, Michelle (Scott) Herman, Eric (Mary Grace) Baehman, Dana Baehman, Alexa Stodola and Hannah (Patrick) Finlay. Eight great-grandchildren: Ciri & Kane Schramm, Macy & Stella Verhasselt, Dawson & Kellen Lassila, and Jack & Jett Herman. He is also survived by sister-in-law Joanne Baehman and two nephews: Jack (Stacy) Baehman & John Baehman.
Claire was preceded in death by his wife Hope June Baehman, son Ted Baehman and brother Gerald Baehman.
Cremation has taken place, and the memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
The family would like to extend a debt of gratitude to Greg & Kathy Baehman for the countless hours/days over the last several years they spent visiting and caring for Dad. Also, a special thank you to the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living, Rennes Health and Rehab, of Weston, and the Interim Palliative & Hospice Care of Wausau for all their compassionate care.
