For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) The gift: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Dale L. Krause, 74, of New London, Wisconsin, died on December 30, 2021. Because of the forgiveness of sins and salvation which Jesus had given to him by grace, Dale entered into eternal life in heaven on that day.
He was born April 5, 1947, in New London. He became a child of God through his baptism at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London, on April 20, 1947. He attended Emanuel Lutheran School and Washington High School in New London. Following high school, Dale enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Samsun, Turkey. Following his military service, he attended Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton and earned an associate degree in accounting. He was employed by Curwood/Bemis Company for 40 ½ years and retired as senior credit manager on March 31, 2013.
Dale was united in marriage to Marsha Folkman on June 15, 1973. They were blessed with two sons, Shane and Brett. They enjoyed family time, spending many hours traveling for youth, high school, and college sporting events, as well as family ski and camping trips. Dale also loved to volunteer. He served on many boards and committees at Emanuel, Fox Valley Lutheran High School, and Martin Luther College. He enjoyed this service to the church, always keeping in mind Ephesians 2:8,9: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast."
He also enjoyed the game of golf. His first-ever round of golf was played on a six-hole course on the airbase in Samsun, Turkey, on oiled sand greens. He thoroughly enjoyed many annual golf trips around the state of Wisconsin with his friends John, Ken, and Roger.
Dale is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marsha; by his two sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren-Rev. Shane and Nicole Krause and their children Eli, Marlie, and Carsyn of Onalaska; Rev. Brett and Michelle Krause and their children Sophia, Silas, and Malachi of Lakewood, Colorado; by his brothers Roger (Mary) Krause of Appleton, Ken (Cheryl) Krause of New London, and by his sister Cherie (Greg) Michaelson of New London, and by many nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Irma (Paap) Krause and by Marsha's parents, Albert and Hilda (Westerfeld) Folkman.
A Christian victory service for Dale will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London, on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 10:30 am, with Rev. William Heiges officiating. Visitation will be held at Cline Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. and at Emanuel on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Full military honors will be observed at the church following the service. Dale's earthly remains will be buried at Mosquito Hill Cemetery in New London in anticipation of the Last Day when Christ raises his body from the dead.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Emanuel Lutheran Church organ and sanctuary renovation project. Dale was so grateful for all the prayers and care he received during his battle with cancer.
