Daniel's Funeral Video

Daniel Jay Handschke, age 71 of New London, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at his residence.  Daniel was born on September 3, 1949 in New London to the late Orville and Lucille (Harman) Handschke.  He was united in marriage to Marjorie (Messenger) Friedrichs on September 3, 2004 in Waupaca.  Daniel served his country in the US Army 509 ^th Engineers, serving mostly in Vietnam.  He was an avid walleye and flathead catfish fisherman.  He formerly worked at Bordens and Steel King, but spent most of his life as an over the road trucker.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, Christine Voight, Monte Messenger, Marlowe (Diane) Messenger and Marlin Messenger; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and siblings, Jeffrey (Karen) Handschke and Bryen Handschke.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David.

The funeral for Daniel will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. William Heiges officiating.  The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Full military honors will be held at the church.
