Dar's Funeral Service Video

Darlene "Dar" Mae Wheeler, age 82 of New London, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at home. Dar was born on January 22, 1941 in Manawa to the late William and Minnie Rineck. She graduated from Manawa High School. While in high school, Dar played in the band and was on the twirling team. She married her high school sweetheart Tom Wheeler on April 23, 1960. He preceded her in death in 2019. Dar's working career started with working at the telephone company in Appleton, where she met many lifelong friends. Following that she worked as a secretary for Readfield Elementary School and then 3 ^rd shift at Hillshire Farms for many years. Lastly, her career path led her to St. Joseph Residence and the New London Senior Center. In 1976, Tom and Dar started The Wheel Inn. Some of Dar's hobbies included camping, attending Hodag, playing cards and going out to eat with special friends. She also enjoyed going to Timm's cabin on Rolling Stone Lake and an occasional fish fry with her sister and friends.

Dar is survived by her children: Tim, Thomas, Tami (Scott) Crain and Troy (Heather) Wheeler; grandchildren: Travis (Isela) Ulman, Tate (Bridget) Wheeler, Trevor (Heika) Ulman, Ryan (friend, Emma) Wheeler, Bailey (Nick) Gomm and Triton Crain; great-grandchildren: Tashia, Tru, Wyatt, Leeland, Landon, Turner, Maddox, and Diem; her sister, Lucille Timm and sister-in-law, Mary Wheeler, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dar was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; daughter, Tracy and brother-in-law, Elmer Timm.

The funeral service for Dar will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. Marcus Schulz officiating. The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.
