Obituary

Dawn Kent, age 51, New London went to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 23, 2015. She was born on December 6, 1963 in Little Chute, daughter of Dale and Helen (Wallace) Marquardt. On March 15, 1986, Dawn was united in marriage to Jeffrey Kent at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London. Dawn was a Real Estate Broker for 15 years, helping hundreds of people through the daunting task of buying their first home, finding their dream home, or finding the perfect investment. She was very active in real estate, and earned the designations in CRS, GRI, SRES, ePro and senior associate. Dawn was the main caretaker and role model for her family, whether it was cooking dinner at home for Jeff, getting her grandchildren involved in 4-H and the community, making sure everyone was together on the holidays, or taking her father (Dale) to all of his doctor's appointments. She served as a sounding board, a shoulder to cry on, a confidant, and quite often gave us all a cold splash of reality when our imaginations ran away with our hearts (and temper). She was always there. Dawn has always put others before herself. While working at Wal-Mart she put together many fundraisers aimed at raising money for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. In the 12 years she managed these fundraisers, she was responsible for well over $100,000 raised, and donated. After moving into Real Estate she began volunteering at the Dale Food Pantry where she served on the board, as well as coordinating the yearly Christmas program. When she started the program provided Christmas for nearly 100 children, she grew the program and provided for nearly 400 needy children each year. Dawn is survived by her husband Jeff, children, Jessica Kent-Schumacher, New London and Nathan Kent, Indiana; 5 grandchildren, Kara, Blake, Skylar, Jocelyn, and Danielle; father, Dale Marquardt; mother-in-law, Henrietta Kent; siblings: Julie (Darwin) Malouf; David (Anne) Marquardt; Karen (Ken) Ritchie; Melinda (Mike) Hanstad; Amanda Hanstad; brothers-in-law: Steve Kent, Mike (Sherry) Kent, Garry Kent, Dan (Tammy) Kent, and Jon Kent. She is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Marquardt, step-mother Diane Marquardt, father in-law Dick Kent, and her grandparents. Funeral services for Dawn will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015, at 12 Noon at Emanuel Lutheran Church New London with Rev. Marcus Schulz officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9-11:45 AM. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Dawn's name.
