Donna Mae Buelow, age 86, a lifelong resident of New London passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023.  Donna was born on April 30, 1937, the youngest child of Emil and Martha Meyers.  She attended Emanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Washington High School in 1954.  Donna married Charles Buelow on October 26, 1957 and they had two sons, Michael and Mark.

Donna worked for several years as a dental assistant in addition to raising her family.  In her spare time, Donna was a skilled seamstress- making clothes for Barbie Dolls, costumes for her sons' plays, and everyday clothes and formal wear for adults and children.  One of her projects, which took an entire night, was a full-length tree costume made entirely of crepe paper for Michael's role in a grade school play.

Donna never cared for cooking, but enjoyed baking, especially bread and a large variety of Christmas candy for her family.  Her caramels, fudge and Divinity were especially memorable.

Though she never cared to play sports, Donna rarely missed attending several years of summer little league and middle league baseball games at Hatten Park to watch her son, Mark, an ace pitcher, and her husband, who was the coach.  Donna also became an avid Green Bay Packers fan- attending quite a few games when she was young and then following the team on TV in her later years.

Donna beat breast cancer in 1997 and then spent several years volunteering and donating hand-sewn items to charitable events that raised money for breast cancer awareness, education, and treatment.

Donna was a big country music fan- her favorites were George Jones, Johnny Cash, and Conway Twitty.  She was among a gang of fun-loving gals, who went line dancing frequently over the years and she could sometimes be heard humming some of her country music favorites while she did housework.

Donna is survived by her children, Michael and his husband, Wayne, and Mark, and his wife, Jacqueline, a granddaughter, Alexandria, and great-granddaughter, Mikaela.  Donna is also survived by her cousin and lifelong friend, Betty Bonikowske, and her husband, Roger, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles and all of her brothers and sister and their spouses.

The Funeral Service for Donna will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London with Rev. Mark Tiefel officiating.  The visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be in Ostrander Cemetery, Town of Mukwa.

Donna's family would like to thank Kim, Mandy, Trisha. Vicki, Mary, Dawn, and Grace-the medical staff at St. Joseph Residence and Jamie, Tanya, and DJ at Compassus Hospice for their excellent care of our mother.  Finally, a special thanks to Donna Hanson for the loving care and friendship she showed our mother.
