Dorothy H. Lauenstein, age 81 of Hortonville, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Dorothy was born at home on November 17, 1941, daughter of Harold and Selma (Gruetzmacher) Beyer. She was a graduate from Seymour High School class of 1960. She married Merle Vick on May 20, 1961 in Black Creek. She was employed at AAL for several years. After raising her children, she took a job as an underwriter for 27 years at Integrity Mutual Insurance in Appleton. Dorothy loved working in her beautiful gardens, traveling, going to church, studying the Bible, and babysitting her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Julie (Tim) Schmeltzer, Jeff (Daun) Vick, and Kim (Mark) Hankemeier; grandchildren, Melissa (Jesse) Westerbeck, Matthew (Katie) Schmeltzer, Sarah Neubert, Christopher Hankemeier, and Jessica (Jeremy Wegner) Hankemeier; great-grandchildren, Corey, Mason, Paitynn, Blakelynn, Parker, Sam, Michael, Andrew and Eleanor and her brother, Donald Beyer.
The funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville with Rev. Steven Kline officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:30 until the time of service at church. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
The family wishes to thank the ThedaCare Cancer Center, Dr, Phillip and Ashley, along with ThedaCare Hospice, Ben, Joan and Melissa.
