Douglas Lynn Matney, age 64, of Weyauwega, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026. He was born on August 6, 1961, in Martinsville, Indiana, to Leroy and Marsha Matney.
Doug spent many years working as an over-the-road truck driver, a beloved career that was ended prematurely by his cancer diagnosis. Outside of work, Doug found joy in restoring old cars and trucks, riding horses, camping with family and friends, and boating, especially cherished trips on the Mississippi River.
On April 12, 1986, Doug married the love of his life, Wenda Sasse, in Fremont, Wisconsin. Their marriage was one of deep devotion, partnership, and love. Doug was endlessly proud of his wife and grateful for the life they built together, and he recently took great joy in celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. Wenda was his constant, his comfort, and his greatest blessing.
Doug also had a special place in his heart for his dogs, who brought him companionship, comfort, and happiness throughout his life. They were truly part of his family.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Wenda Matney; his children, Tonya (Tannor) Williams, Cristy (James) Burke, and Kevin Matney; grandchildren, Rayne Matney, Maysa Burke, River Burke, Gabi Bukoski, and Meadow Williams; great-granddaughter, Evan; his mother, Marsha Fahser; and his siblings, Debra Matney and Jeffrey Matney.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Matney; his stepfather, Mayford Fahser; and his grandparents, Edna and Earl Winton.
Friends and family will gather at Zion Lutheran Church in Readfield, Wisconsin, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for a memorial service with Pastor Matthew Vik officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to ThedaCare Hospice and the compassionate staff at St. Joseph Nursing Home for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided Doug during his final days. Their support and compassion will always be remembered.
