Ed Dorn's Funeral Service Part 1
Ed Dorn's Funeral Service Part 2
Edward Roy Dorn, age 95, was called home on Valentine's Day February 14, 2022, to be with his sweetheart. A man of sincere and deep faith is now in heaven with his loved ones. Ed was born on December 20, 1926, to the late William and Laura (Schumacher) Dorn on the family farm located on County S in the town of Ellington. Ed graduated from Hortonville High School in 1944. During high school, he worked at Schweb's Produce (Cuffs). Following high school, he worked at Kimberly Clark Paper Mill until he was drafted into the US Army on December 7, 1945. He served in WWII until July 1947. Following his military service, he worked at Western Electric for 4 years. Ed married Elaine Falck on October 4, 1952, and they had 66 wonderful years together. Elaine passed away on January 3, 2019. At the age of 25, he went to work for his brother, Emory Dorn, at Dorn's Service Station, where he worked for 33 years. After the service station closed, he worked at the Wireworks from age 58 to 65 and then retired. After retiring, Ed and Elaine enjoyed going to the Menominee Casino to gamble, visit with old friends and 5 buck chicken dinner. After the casino took their money the 5 buck chicken dinner definitely did not cost 5 bucks. Ed enjoyed working in his garden, playing cards, volunteering, reading the paper and working on Sudoko puzzles. After retiring, Ed and Elaine enjoyed going to their Loon Lake cottage, which was a few miles from the Menominee Casino. Ed lived a life committed to volunteering. He joined the American Legion as an Honor Guard in 1947 and served in the American Legion for 75 years. He also volunteered at the Hortonville Community Food Pantry for 20 years, the Hortonville/Hortonia Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years and as an usher at SS Peter and Paul's Catholic Church.
Ed is survived by his four children: Tom (Barb) Dorn, Stan (Pam) Dorn, Sandy (Gary) Krupka, and Dennis (Debbie Tice) Dorn; nine grandchildren, Ben (Robyn) and Tyler Dorn, Travis and Josh Dorn, Danielle (Dural) Morris, Kurt (Tonya) Krupka, Kelly (Christian) Ramstack, Christy and Lance Dorn and numerous great-grandchildren.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, William and Laura; his wife, Elaine; his granddaughter, Stacy; his brothers, Emory and Ron and his sisters, Dorothy and Bernice.
The Funeral Mass for Ed will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville with Fr. Phil Schoofs officiating. Visitation will take place at the CHURCH on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Ed will be missed and remembered by his family and all of those he has spent so many years volunteering with. God's blessings to all.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations will be given to Hortonville Community Food Pantry and SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
