Obituary

Elizabeth Gaigg's Funeral Mass Video On Friday, April 1st, 2022, Elizabeth F. Gaigg, known by all as Bette, went to her eternal rest at the age of 97.  She passed while in hospice care at St. Joseph Residence in New London.

Bette was born on February 6, 1925 in Chicago, IL.  She was the first of 7 children born to Catherine and Ludwig Gaigg.  After graduating high school Bette attended Kansas City University and left to pursue a career doing secretarial work and at the pinnacle of her career she was a congressional aide in Washington D.C.

She returned to the family farm in Hortonville, Wisconsin in the early 60's to care for her father who was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  She stayed on after his death in 1967 to help her mother and brother Joseph care for the farm.  In 1971 when her mother passed, she continued to work the farm with her brother.  They raised cows and sold the milk for cheese making, she sold apples from their small orchard, and Bette tended a large garden with a variety of vegetables and strawberries.

Bette was a devoted Roman Catholic, and said the rosary daily.  She attended SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville, and will be interred at the SS Peter & Paul cemetery with others in her family.  The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Hortonville, with Fr. Phil Schoofs officiating.  She will be interred at the parish cemetery immediately following the mass.

Bette is preceded in death by her mother and father, Catherine (Kriescher) and Ludwig Gaigg, sisters Frances (Pete) Tollios and Marian "Mitzi" (Albert) O'Neil, and brother Bernard (Mary) Gaigg, and her nephews, Michael and David Gaigg.  Her surviving siblings are Peter (Joann) Gaigg, Joseph F. Gaigg, and Cecelia V. Gaigg.

She had many nieces and Nephews, Gloria (Ben) Tantrow, Alicia Gaigg, William (Nikole) Gaigg, Mark (Sue) Gaigg, Teresa (Judd) Brickler, Steve Gaigg, Steven Tollios, Phillip (Cathy) Tollios, James Tollios and Pete (Judith) Tollios, Patricia O'Neil, Diane (Marion) Ostrega, Sharon (Daniel) Peterson.  She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.
