Elizabeth J. (Betty) Lamers Diestler, age 92 of Hortonville, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at her home in rural Hortonville with her daughter and grandson by her side. Betty was born on October 25, 1930 in Kimberly, daughter of Jake E. and Marie (Weyenberg) Lamers. She grew up in Kimberly and graduated from Kimberly High School class of 1948. Betty married Otto Diestler on June 1, 1955 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. They celebrated 48 years of marriage before his passing on October 15, 2003. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and belonged to the Christian Mothers. Her faith was very important to her. Betty was a homemaker and worked tirelessly alongside her husband Otto, while they farmed in the town of Dale for many years. Despite health issues as a young girl, Betty maintained her desire to be helpful whenever she was able. Betty was blessed with her only daughter, Mary and with her grandson, Tom and enjoyed her family in the farmhouse, where she lived for the past 67 years.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Mary (Troy) Schucknecht and their son,Tom; her only sibling, John E. "Jack" (Jean) Lamers and their three sons, Scott (Susie) Lamers and their two children, Christopher and Katie (fiance', Dalton Davis); Jamon (Patience) Lamers and their daughters, Elise and Maelle and Eric (special friend, Karen Lee) Lamers. She is further survived by eight nieces and nephews of Otto- his brother Charles' children, along with several cousins and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Armin and Dora Diestler; brother-in-law, Charles (Cecelia) Diestler; Otto's niece and nephew and many other relatives and friends.
The Mass of Christian burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville with Fr. Phil Schoofs officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hortonville.
The family wishes to thank ThedaCare Hospice for their compassionate care last week. You were all very special to Betty during this difficult time.
A memorial is being established at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Betty's name.
