Betty's Funeral Service Video

Elizabeth "Betty" J. Dowd, age 91 of Weyauwega, passed away on Thursday, June 20th, 2024 at St. Joseph Residence in New London surrounded by her family.  Betty was born on December 16, 1932 in New London to the late Fred and Grace poppy.  On June 2, 1950 she married Kenneth Williams. They lived in New London and spent most evenings and weekends at their cottage on Bear Lake. Betty enjoyed gardening and volunteering at the Methodist Church food stand at the Waupaca County Fair.  She also started the free Thanksgiving dinners at the United Methodist Church.  Betty worked at IGA Super Value grocery store as the bakery/deli manager for many years.  After retiring, she loved to cruise with her brother Wayne and his wife, Ronda Poppy.  Betty traveled with Volunteers in Mission and also the Nomads. There she met Theodore Dowd and they were married on November 1, 2003. In her later years, she enjoyed fellowship of friends and family in the winter with her daughters at Lake Wales RV Park in Florida.

Betty is survived by her brother, Wayne (Jeanie) Poppy; son, Mark (Betty) Williams and daughter, Tami (Bruce) Wolfgram; son-in-law, Roger Sterba; grandchildren, Lesa (Jason) Perry, Brenda Sterba, Greta (Daamain) Bender, Erica (Dan) Schultz, Ira (Bri) Sterba, Mica Sterba, Kelly (Jeff) Grebinoski, Mark (Nicke) Williams, David (Sarah) Williams, Jonathan (Kimmie) Williams, Ben (Leah) Wolfgram and Jake (Amanda) Wolfgram; 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Williams and husband, Theodore Dowd; daughter, Kathi Sterba and her siblings, Pearl Poppy, Clifford Poppy, Bob Poppy and Marian Wienandt.

The Memorial Service for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at The United Methodist Church in New London with Rev. Pat Knutson officiating.  Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.

The family extends a special thanks to great-granddaughter, Paige Perry.
