Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Moravec, age 88 of Shiocton passed away at ThedaCare New London on Tuesday, October 12, 2023. Betty was born in the Town of Maine on August 22, 1935 to the late Franklin and Maggie (Weber) Samson. She married Donald Moravec on October 29, 1952 in Shiocton. Betty worked at Simmons Juvenile Products in New London for 25 years. She loved watching and feeding the birds, gardening, canning and tending to her flower beds. Betty was well known for her enormous thimble collection. She enjoyed sewing doll clothes and the granddaughters and nieces loved "shopping" in grandma's upstairs doll closet. Betty was an avid bowler and enjoyed going to church. She adored her family and grandchildren. She found great joy in feeding them out of her garden! Betty also spoiled her dog Puffy.
Betty is survived by her husband, Donald; children Connie Moravec (significant other, Ben Huzzar), Wayne (Tammy) Moravec, Linda (Steve) Trost, Cheryl (Jeff) Nelson, Doreen (Bill) Cupp, Peggy (Larry) Zillmer, Brian Moravec (significant other, Kris Wondra), Pam (Don) Fletcher and Barry (Lisa) Moravec, along with 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brothers, Ken (Pam) Samson and Francis Samson and sisters, Ruth Hoffman, Pearl Steffens, Geraldine Raddatz and Judy Samson (special friend, Diane).
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Rosie and Blanche; brothers, Hugh and Mike; brothers-in-law, Frank, Tom, Beanie, Bruce and Gary and sister-in-law, Judy.
The Funeral Mass for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton. The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery, Town of Bovina.
