Elizabeth C. (Springer) Schmalz - Wiesner, age 82 of New London passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. When her parents, Theodore and Mary (Gabriel) Springer, were choosing a name for her, they went with Elizabeth, as she was born at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on October 10, 1941.  She was united in marriage to John Wiesner on April 29, 1989.  At the age of 14 she raced powder puff and continued racing for about six years. Liz was a real estate agent for five to six years before becoming an insurance agent. While working, Liz and John also put time into fostering kids which left a great impact on the community, inspiring many others to become foster parents as well. Liz was an excellent baker and enjoyed sunbathing and gardening. Her family was her life and she stayed in contact with everyone from coast to coast.  Liz made a great impact on so many lives and will leave a great imprint to be cherished forever. She had a bountiful heart, and her family loved her very much but she "loved them more".

Liz is survived by her husband John Wiesner; her children, Richard (Monica) Schmalz and their children, Brittany and Alec Schmalz; Timothy (Anita) Schmalz and their children, Tobias (Cassandra) Collins, Samantha Schmalz, and Anthony Schmalz; Sonia Wiesner and her daughter Sarina Wiesner; Troy (Heather) Wiesner and their children, Ethan, Mason, Angelo (Hailey) Wiesner; and  Kari Wiesner and her children Austin, Isaac, Alexus Polanco and Houston Santiago; along with numerous family and friends.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Mary; her late husband, Robert Schmalz; siblings, Catherine Strey, Richard Springer, Kenneth Springer and Marian Krisch.

The Memorial Service for Liz will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in New London with Rev. Steve Sevides officiating.  The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  A private burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Pastor Steve for all the visits and care, Pastor Kevin for the crazy socks, Sandy Cuff for sharing his voice in song, Lois Cuff the organist, and the ladies of the church serving lunch.
