Elna Carter was born June 16th, 1928 to William and Iva Planert in the Town of Maine. She was married to Glenn Allen Carter on October 29, 1949 at the South Maine Church of Christ. After her husband's death in 1957, she and her daughters moved to Shiocton. She spent her whole life in the Shiocton area. Elna worked for the Shiocton School District for 37 years as district secretary/bookkeeper.
Elna was an active member of Shiocton Bible Church (formerly First Congregational Church) for 66 years. She belonged to the Willing Workers Society and Friendly Circle, as well as the church choir, and served for several years as Sunday School Superintendent.
Elna loved to travel, to read, to eat out at restaurants, to decorate her home for various holidays, and most importantly to spend time with family and friends.
Elna is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Carter and Lynn (Bill) Buechler and son-in-law, Bob Collar. She is further survived by four grandchildren, James Collar, Jonathan Collar, Sarah Buechler, and Lexi (Dylan) Hoff, one great-grandson, Kane Collar, and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Carter, her parents, William and Iva Planert, her brother, Glen and sister-in-law, Maymie Planert, her sister, Viola and brother-in-law, Merlin Beyer, and two daughters, Diane Collar and Beverly Carter, as well as Glenn's immediate family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Shiocton Bible Church with Pastors Michael Isbill and Jerry Matt officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, WI. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
