Gail Lorraine Steingraber, age 75, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on October 21, 1949, in Sheboygan, Wis., the daughter of Ralph and Florence (Schrameyer) Schuette.
Gail graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1968 and UW-Milwaukee in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She married Gary Steingraber on July 9, 1977, in Sheboygan and resided in Racine where she taught in elementary schools. Prior to retirement, Gail worked as a jewelry department associate for South Towne Kohl's. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, Sudoku puzzles, sewing and participating in church activities.
Gail is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Ryan Steingraber and Mark (Meghan) Steingraber; granddaughters, Emma and Addyson; sister, Diane (Don Schaefer) Post; nieces, Chris (Curt) Rabe and Terry (Pat) Holt; as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Bob Post.
A funeral service will be held at MONONA EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4411 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, with Pastor Thomas Nowak presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. A luncheon will follow at the church.
A second service will be held at the CLINE & HANSON FUNERAL HOME, 209 W. Cook St., New London, Wis., at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025. A second visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. A luncheon will follow at CRYSTAL FALLS, 1500 Handschke Drive, New London. Burial will be held at the New Maple Creek Cemetery, New London, Wis. following the luncheon.
