Gordon Douglas Becker, age 94, going on 30…… He was born a cowboy on February 11, 1931 in North Dakota to the late Theodore and Mary (Meyer) Becker.  He passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Cherry Meadows in Appleton. At the age of 17, he moved to Sheboygan, but always kept his love for North Dakota.  He served his country in the US Army from 1952 – 1954 as a radio operator in Germany and still knew all his Morse code.  Gordon attended college at Milwaukee School of Engineering, and went on to work as a mechanical engineer at several companies, including Mercury Marine.  He was a fun loving, creative, very intelligent, kind and caring man.  Gordon loved the great outdoors and any and all animals.  He was an avid deer hunter and hiked around Arizona.  Gordon was still young at heart.  He still camped in the wilderness, rode his 3 wheel bike, did overnight canoeing and loved taking the grandkids for rides around the neighborhood on his 3-wheeler. He planted many different types of trees on his Circle Diamond Acres, where he made his own maple syrup for his famous sourdough pancakes. Gordon raised llamas and was the president of the state Llama Association.  He shared his love of cross country skiing with anybody that wanted to learn, especially children. Gordon and Mary were in a band called Country Sunshine.  They performed at senior living facilities and his harmonica playing was always well received.  He sure got a kick out of entertaining old folks.  Gordon also sang in two choirs at the MBH Activity Center.  He spent several winters in Arizona at Raindance Resort.  He was an excellent dancer – Polka, waltz, 2-step and line dancing were a few of his favorites.  Let's not forget about Gordon's love of card playing.  Finally, Gordon's sense of humor was amazing, even after his stroke.  When they asked him over and over his name, age, etc., his reply was – "you know, if you guys can't remember this stuff, how do you expect me to"?

Gordon married Arlene Jaeckels in 1954 and they had five children: Carol Becker, Colleen (Hugh) Gilgenbach, Dean Becker, Fay (Mike) Campbell and Gene (Gina) Becker; grandchildren, Jeremy, Nicholas, Jennifer, Kaylyn, Cortney and Boyd; great-grandchildren, Daryl, Negan, Zach, Zayana and Zeb.

Arlene preceded him in death, as well as his granddaughter, Cassidy Becker.  Gordon then married Mary Becker in 2005 and gained five more children: Mary Murphy, John Murphy, Suzy (Dean) Antoniewicz, Tina (Brian) Priestly and Richard (Crystal) Tease; grandchildren, Austin Schmidt, Ashley Testin, Dakota Wright, Grace and Audrey Priestly, Beau, Ethan, Ashton and Santana Tease and Mackenzie Ley, along with great-grandchildren, Charlie, Jax and Evelyn.

The Funeral Service for Gordon will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at St. John's Episcopal Church in New London with Reverend Portia Corbin officiating.  The visitation will take place from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A private family burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenville at a later date.
