James McKellips, 88 years old, of Hortonville, WI, passed away on April 28, 2023 of natural causes. He was born on August 31, 1934 to Leroy and Elsie McKellips.

At18, James enlisted in the Marine Corps with his brother, Dale McKellips. After the Marine Corps, he had a long and successful career as a mason and was the best in his trade. In retirement, James enjoyed spending time with his family, building birdhouses, gardening, listening and dancing to polka music, playing Yahtzee and cribbage, cross stitching, sitting on his porch with a cup of coffee, watching Judge Judy and old westerns, and spoiling his pets, Chubby and Molly.

James is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and great-grandson, Lukas.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Strey (Randy), her children Logan Gorges (Tina) and family, Summer Lee (Ree) and family, Savannah Beauchaine, Falyn Strey, and Grace Jack (Peyton); and his other daughter Cheryl and her children Cory Quaintance (Sandy) and family, Clint Quaintance (Abbie) and family, Patti Wanta (Keith) and family, and Lindsey Quaintance and family.

Jim was the most joyful, strong, kind, loving, giving, compassionate, tender, sassy, quick-witted, encouraging, hardworking, and creative person. He inspired us all to achieve our very best. The impact he left on everyone around him will be everlasting. He will be missed greatly and forever cherished. We love you, Papa.
