James "Jungle" B. Slavin, age 79 of Hortonville formerly of Hurley, WI, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.  Jim was born in Bessemer, MI on June 9, 1945 to the late John and Eleanore (Cobb) Slavin.  He married Lori Pertile in 1985 in Ironwood, MI on the shores of Lake Superior.  Jim taught for many years, finishing his career teaching at Ojibway Correctional Facility.  He also worked with numerous construction companies during his summers.  Jim's passions included fishing on Lake Superior, baseball, going to Packer, Brewer and Bucks games.  His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife; children, Bryan (Kelly), Sarah (Bryan) and Jennifer (Brad); grandchildren, Hunter, Cambelle, Claire, Sophie, Jonathan and Olivia along with siblings, John (Donna) and Janice.  He is further survived by cousins, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel; sister, Jayne and bother-in-law, Russ.

Jim's Funeral Service will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, WI on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
