Obituary

A Graveside Service and Celebration of Life for Janet will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bear Creek.

Janet "Bergie" Marie Bergman, age 80 of New London, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.  Janet was born on May 20, 1944 in Appleton to the late Alex and Merle (Thompson) Bessette. She loved to golf and meet up with her friends for "attitude night" at the VFW.  Janet enjoyed telling jokes and even laughing at herself…..like making coffee and forgetting to put the pot under the coffee drip! The Packers were her favorite team, however she hated late games.  Lucky would describe Janet, as she always would win money on the Packer games and the shake of the day. She was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the VFW Post 2732 in New London, where she was the secretary and worked in the kitchen preparing food for the Friday night fish fry. In her younger years, she worked at Simmons Juvenile Products, retiring after 20 years.

Janet is survived by her children, Tammy (Jeff) Krutz, Kim (Pat) Gorman, Andrea (Bob) Lindsley, Judy Bergman and Jeff Schucknecht; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Gerald (Bonnie) Blink, Donald (Linda) Blink, JoAnn (Tom) Carelli, Debra Doyle, Cindy Lyons and Joyce (Chuck) Drephal; in-laws, JoAnn Bessette, Linda Blink and Melvin Niemuth.  She is also leaving behind some very good friends that she will never forget; Patty Newhouse, Kay Desmond, Cheryl Prahl and Jim Miller. She is now with her good friend, Debbie Howard Bellin.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her sisters, Rosemary Niemuth, Ruthann (Jim) O'Bright, Sharon (Craig) Wesley, Jean (David) Doede and Dawn Groeshel and her brothers, Leon Bessette, Charles Blink, Mainard Blink Jr. and Gordon Blink.

A Celebration of Janet's life will be held at a later date.  Janet's request was that this event should happen on a warm and sunny day, so that everyone can attend.  She didn't want anyone standing in the cold!  Janet's second request of her oldest granddaughter, Kelly, was, "Make sure Sam Elliot is present!"

Additional details will be posted on the website.  Please check back.
