Jeffery Ervin Abhold, age 70, of Hortonville, WI, was born May 14, 1955, in Neenah, WI, the youngest of three sons, born to Edward and Virginia (Schroeder) Abhold.
Jeff married Cindy (Stauss) on March 5, 1983. He passed away peacefully at Silverstone Memory Care, surrounded by family, on November 5, 2025.
Jeff lived a full life doing the things he loved, including hunting, snowmobiling, sturgeon spearing, ATVing, ice fishing, downhill skiing, and taking vacations throughout the U.S. and Canada in the RV with his wife, four kids, and dog (Lucky). He enjoyed helping build two cabins in the Herbster area of Northern Wisconsin and spending countless weekends there with family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed farming and cutting wood with his brothers and having endless "meetings" in Edward and Ginny's kitchen. He dedicated 35 years to snow removal in the Neenah area, which always included a midnight story and breakfast get-together.
His greatest pride and joy was his family, including Cindy, his wife of 42 years, four kids and five grandkids.
Children: Joe, Josh, Jake (Megan), and Jessica (Casey) Simonis
Grandchildren: Landon, Garrett, and Bryleigh Abhold; Rhett and Hazel Simonis – all of whom loved their "Grandpa Chetty."
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Virginia, brother Jerry, father-in-law Richard Stauss and sister-in-law Jennifer Stauss. He is survived by his brother Jack (Sue), sister-in-law Christine Abhold, mother-in-law Lois Stauss, brothers-in-law Randy Stauss & Craig Stauss, sisters-in-law Wendy (Craig) Panos & Tina (Mike) Larsen, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
There was never a shortage of laughs when Jeff was around. Stories like "the 22-minute Twinkie", "picking blueberries", "the mitten story", "Saltines at the Ding", "the $2 forklift", "Cayuuuga", "The Deluxe in the ditch", "donut from the principal", "3rd grade comb" and countless others summed up Jeff's life.
Jeff's wishes were to have a Celebration of Life. He wanted to let the farmers get their crops off and the deer hunters get their bucks. The celebration will be held on Friday, December 5th at Bean City Bar & Grill in New London from 3pm-8pm. Friends and family are invited to come, share stories, and enjoy food and drinks.
