Jerome Dorn's Memorial Service Video

Jerome Jay Dorn, age 81, of Appleton, long-time resident of Hortonville, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 surrounded by his family at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah, WI. Jerome was born on May 26, 1941 to the late Emory Donald and Marion Joy (Wieseler) Dorn in New London, WI. Following high school, he worked for his father at Dorn's Service Station in Hortonville. Jerome worked as an assembler at Allis-Chalmers until retirement in 2003. He also was a member of the Hortonville Fire Department for ten years.

Jerome, better known as "The Gov", loved fishing, deer hunting, turkey hunting, cutting firewood with family, hanging out at the cottage while drinking beer and telling stories. The Gov was the best story teller!

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Marion, his brother, Jim Dorn and his partner in life for 28 years, Donna Ready.

Jerome is survived by his children, Steve (Sharon) Dorn, Dave (Denise) Dorn, Bill (Pamela) Dorn, Ellen (Bill) Evans. He is also survived by his partner Donna's children, Jim (Shelly) Ready, Kim (Don) Rainwater, Mike (Amy) Ready, Steve (Mary) Ready and Lisa (Jerome) Hagen; grandchildren, Nichole, Erin, Ashley, Josey, Hannah, Jacob, Camille and Bill. He is further survived by his great-grandchildren, Trinity, Atticus, Holland, Michael, Maggie, Emery, Isaiah, Micah, Abigail and his sister Patty Steffen.

The family wishes to thank the staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah for their compassion and care given to Jerome.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00pm at Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Hortonville and again on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 9:00 – 11:00am, followed by a brief service.
