Jerome Beyer's Funeral Service Video

Shiocton – Our awesome God took our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and dear friend, Jerry Beyer, to be with Him in heaven on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the age of 79 from a cardiac arrest due to a fall at home.  In addition to loving our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Jerry also loved life and treasured his wife, family, and friends, and he often sang his favorite song, "It's a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.

Ervin Beyer and Pearl (Korth) Beyer were overjoyed when Jerry was born on June 9, 1943 in New London, WI.  He was baptized, served as an altar boy, and confirmed his faith at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton, WI.  Jerry grew up near Shiocton and was a 1961 graduate of Shiocton High School, participating on prom court.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965 as an Aircraft Mechanic at Incirlik Air Force Base in Turkey during the Cuban Missile Crisis and at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama as a Flight Engineer he logged more than 1,000 hours in the air.  He was very patriotic and a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.

After his tour of service, Jerry fell in love with Marilyn Beyer, and on April 16, 1966, they joined into the holy sacrament of marriage at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, WI.  Together they shared 56 years of devoted and joyful marriage including being blessed with two precious children: Kristine and Timothy.  Jerry and Marilyn's immense love for each other was and continues to be evident to everyone around them.

Jerry started his career with Union Local 458 (now 400) as a Steamfitter and worked for Honeywell, Specialty Systems, AZCO, and other companies . Jerry was most successful working for VanErt Electric, the company in which he also retired.  He was instrumental in starting and growing the Fox Valley Division in combined positions of Sales Manager, Estimator, Project Manager, and Superintendent.  He oversaw many major projects in paper mills, universities, shopping malls, naval ships, churches, and other places.  Many previous co-workers asked Jerry to be part of his next projects because they felt appreciated, enjoyed working with him, and knew Jerry's motto that "there is no "I" in team."

Jerry played a key role in starting Christ the King Lutheran Church in Sherwood, WI where he was a charter member.  He served as a communion server, usher, mowed the church lawn plus many other duties showing God his faithfulness.  He was currently a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville, WI.  Jerry was a very generous person with a big heart, lending a helping hand whenever he could, as well as giving a dollar to every child he met so they could put it in their piggy bank.

Jerry and Marilyn, his ever-loving wife (as he called her), lived in Appleton, Black Creek, Oshkosh, and on the East shore of Lake Winnebago, before becoming snowbirds and traveling extensively throughout the United States.  Everywhere they lived and traveled, they enjoyed being with family and friends.  In recent years, he also enjoyed spending winters at their home at the Big O RV Resort in Okeechobee, FL and having bonfires at their home in Shiocton, WI during the summers.  Jerry made many friends all over the country, and his likeable nature allowed him to make new friends easily.  Wherever he went, people knew him and were excited to see him again!

Jerry also enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, bowling, bingo, corn roasts, cutting tall pines, watching the Packers as well as playing cribbage, dominos, baseball, and billiards winning many blue ribbons.  He loved listening and singing to music including country and 50s – especially if it contained saxophones.  He was an amazingly creative person who built unique items including Christmas nativities, nautical lighthouses, a porch swing, and a ceiling that lowered and held a floating model train track.

Jerry will be dearly missed by his wife Marilyn; his daughter Kristine (Conway) Eastman and their children Brandon (Jordan) Eastman and Brooke (Chris) Perri; his son Timothy (Erin) Beyer and their children Joshua and Alex Beyer; his great granddaughter Everleigh Eastman; his brother Lyle (Donna) Beyer; his step-sister-in-law Janet Graebel; step-brother-in-law Floyd Watkins; and his special Godson Dan Malueg.  Jerry is further survived by many nieces, nephews, their children, grandchildren, other relatives, and many lifelong friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Ervin Beyer and Pearl (Korth) Beyer, his step-mother Charlotte (Watkins) Beyer, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rudolph and Emma Malueg; brother Dennis Beyer, infant sister Darlene Beyer; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws Loretta and Tom Josephs and Sandra and Mike Douglas; and step-siblings Chuck Graebel and Pam (John) Rueckert.

Jerry's Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at N1615 Meadowview Dr, Greenville, WI 54942 with Rev. Steve Kline and Rev. Chad Starfeldt officiating.  Visitation starts at 11:00 am with the service beginning at 1:00 pm.  Full military honors will be held immediately following the service.  The service will also be live streamed on www.facebook.com/GreenvilleShepherdoftheHills In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in honor of Jerry's love for veterans and our God.

We will always love you, Jerry, Dad, and Grandpa, and we will miss and cherish the gift from God that you were!
