Jerry L. Kuppernus, age 83, of New London, passed away at Cherry Meadows on Saturday, November 30, 2024. Jerry was born on August 9, 1941 to the late Leonard and Marguerite Kuppernus.  He was baptized at Emanuel Lutheran on August 24, 1941.  Jerry married JoAnne Ehlke on September 16, 1961. She preceded him in death in September 2023. Jerry was a dedicated lifetime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. He served his country in the US National Guard.  Jerry's passions in life were faith, family, sports and fishing! Jerry was a natural salesman who worked for many companies throughout his life, even operating his own business for a number of years. During his younger years, he played baseball, softball, basketball and football.  In high school he played the trumpet in the marching band.  For many years, Jerry refereed basketball and was an umpire for softball and baseball.  He was the head referee in New London for many years.  Jerry was an avid walleye and bass fisherman, competing in many tournaments over the years.  He was a member of the Waupaca Bass Club.  Passing on his knowledge of the Wolf River System to his family and friends was Jerry's pride and joy.  One of his favorite fishing partners was his grandson Riley! In his later years he could be found at the bait shop, sharing coffee and conversation with friends.

Jerry is survived by his sons, Todd Kuppernus (special friend Noreen Scruton) and Troy (Liz) Kuppernus; grandchildren, Candace (Josh) Robbins, Konnor Kuppernus, Tyler Kuppernus, and Riley Kuppernus; great-grandchildren, Grayson Robbins and Brynlee Robbins; a sister, Neva Wing; and a brother-in-law, Jim Ehlke.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Tim.

The Memorial Service for Jerry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. Mark Tiefel officiating.  The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Readfield.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Schuler, ThedaCare Hospice, and the staff at Cherry Meadows for their compassionate service.
