Joachim's Funeral Service Video

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville with Fr. Michael Warden officiating.  The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.  Inurnment will be at the parish cemetery in the spring.

Joachim Karl Scholz, born in November 1931 in Ohlau Germany, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025 at his home in Greenville, Wisconsin. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Emma.

Joachim was the son of Max and Anna Scholz and had two sisters, Ursula and Felizitas. He met Emma in Germany, and together they immigrated to the United States, where they were married for 62 wonderful years, and became proud U.S. citizens.

Joachim and Emma raised their four children, Joachim, Anna, Stephan and Christopher, in Racine, Wisconsin. In 1975, the family relocated to the Appleton, Wisconsin area for a new job opportunity. Joachim also spent a brief period working in the Chicago, Illinois area before retirement.

Trained as an engineer in Germany, Joachim used his skills to make significant improvements in machinery throughout his career in the machine tool industry. He was known for his innovative contributions and dedication to his work.

Joachim designed and continually improved his home in Greenville. The family also collaborated to build a hunting log cabin in Forest County, Wisconsin. His hobbies included woodworking, home improvements, fishing and history. He had published articles on military WWII history and was an avid hunter, spending many weekends outdoors with his sons and favorite dog.

Affectionately known as "Opa" to his family, Joachim is survived by his four children, seven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
