John Oberstadt's Funeral Service Video John P. Oberstadt, age 90 of Shiocton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Primrose Retirement Community in Appleton. John was born on June 27, 1931 to the late John G. and Della (Pagel) Oberstadt in Shiocton. He was united in marriage to Dolores Moede on November 28, 1953.  John served his country in the US Army in Korea and was a bronze star recipient. He farmed in the Shiocton area all his life and was also a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 37 years, retiring in 1995.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, polka dancing and bus trips to Germanfest.  John was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 512 in Shiocton. He participated in the Korean War Honor Flight in 2013.

John is survived by his children, Vicki Oberstadt (Brian Eschenbauch), Wendy Oberstadt (Patrick Deprey), Daniel (Lori) Oberstadt and Amy (Dave) Lewis; grandchildren, Shelly (Corey) Brasch, Chris Puffe, Tammy (Tim) Thyssen, Eric Drath (Kim Buntin), Bradley (Kelly) Oberstadt and Brittany Oberstadt; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Taven and Troy Thyssen, Tanner, Kiersten and Cadence Drath, Jace and Myla Oberstadt and sister-in-law, Maxine Moede.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, "Tootsie"; father and mother-in-law, Herbert and Bertha Moede; brother, Allen (Marilyn) Oberstadt; in-laws, Lorraine (Elroy) McNeish, Donald and Ervin Moede.

The private family funeral for John will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shiocton with Rev. Paul Hinz officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery, Town of Bovina.  Full military honors will be held.

Memorials will be directed to Wisconsin American Legion in John's name.
