Karen Helen Johnson, daughter of George, Dorothy Van Zummeren and Johnny Helein, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the age of 83.

Karen was born on January 24, 1943 in Appleton, Wisconsin. She graduated from Appleton West High School with the class of 1961. She married Leland Johnson on April 18, 1964 and together they had five children: Jenny, Kari, Julie, Lee, and Troy. She studied at NWTC where she became an LPN at 50 years old.

Karen was employed at Greentree Health and Rehab for 15 years. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, donating hats, scarves & mittens to many shelters. She loved to tend her flower gardens and her many houseplants. She had so many that Santa would have to act like Tarzan to get through the forest. She also enjoyed thrift shopping and crossword puzzles.

Karen is survived by her children, Jenny (Rich) Koster, Kari (Todd) Dombrowski, Lee “Chunky” Johnson, and Troy Johnson; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, George, Dorothy and Johnny; her daughter, Julie; and her brother, Mike.

The Funeral Service for Karen will be held at 11 am, on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London, Wisconsin with Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating. The visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will be at Big Falls, Cemetery.
