LaVerne's Funeral Service Video
LaVerne Mary Griesbach, age 90, of Hortonville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on April 5, 1934 in Darboy, daughter of the late Laura (Kuepper) and Anton Luniak. On May 19, 1953, LaVerne married Donald Griesbach at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Darboy. Don preceded her in death in 2008. Don and LaVerne farmed in the Hortonville area and did some work in residential home construction. A favorite pastime of LaVerne's was throwing out a fishing line and reeling in a good time at the family cottage on Pickerel Lake. There was nothing she enjoyed more than time spent with family, especially when family time included a fish fry at her home. It was never unusual for around 100 people to celebrate holidays at the house. LaVerne also enjoyed going to casinos with her friends and playing card games or Yahtzee with friends and family.
LaVerne is survived by her children; David Griesbach, Douglas (Rene) Griesbach, Lou Ann (Paul) Schroeder, Patricia (Steve) Ninneman, Michael (Sndra) Griesbach, Kevin Griesbach, Diane (Wayne) Retzlaff, and Randy (Kim) Griesbach; a sister-in-law, Delilas Luniak; a sister, Elaine Garvey; 26 grandchildren, and 41 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; two sons, Kenny and Richard; three brothers, Alvin, Gordon, and Anthony; and a brother-in-law, Vernon Garvey.
The Funeral Mass for LaVerne will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 with Fr. Michael Warden officiating. Visitation will take place at Ss. Peter and Paul from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church Parish Cemetery in Greenville.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Compassus Hospice, her caregivers, and nieces for all their help. A special thank you to Laurie for bringing her communion.
