Lila Young Funeral Service Video
Lila Mae (Thoma) Young, age 90 of Bear Creek, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025 at St. Joseph Residence. Lila was born on November 13, 1934 in the Town of Lebanon to the late Eldo and Lula (Wisnefski) Thoma. She married Floyd Young on July 14, 1949. He preceded her in death in 2013. Lila enjoyed puzzles and word searches. You would often find her sitting outside in the summer enjoying the weather and watching the birds, especially cardinals. Going out to eat with family and friends was something she always looked forward to and she loved wearing jeans and anything denim! Lila would get her hair done weekly and did this for decades. She was an animal lover. Lila loved to go to Kimberly Park and watch the ducks. Going on pontoon boat rides and taking the kids to Sandy Beach or Bear Lake were among the many things Lila enjoyed with her family. She lived a very well rounded life.
Lila is survived by her children, Christine (Wayne) Oshefsky, Ruth Hayes, Vernie Young, Steven Young (fiancé, Jane Dorn), Gerald (Teri) Young, Patricia (Felix) Young and Kim (John) Steiger; son-in-law, Larry Uhazie; siblings, Barb Young and Rolland Young; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lila was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte Uhazie and son-in-law, Richard Hayes.
The family wishes to thank her grandson, Eric and daughter, Kim for taking care of mom over the years, Lynn Krabbe for being mom's beautician, along with the staff at St. Joseph Residence and Compassus Hospice.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Lila will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek with Deacon Joe Lehman officiating. The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
