Buchman
May 25, 1934 – January 30, 2024
Lois Buchman, age 89, of Hortonville, Wisconsin, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, January 30, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born on May 25, 1934 in Five Corners, WI to the late Robert and Ella (Beschta) Griesbach and was baptized at St. John's in Seymour WI. Lois grew up in Five Corners and around age 11 her family moved to Hortonville where she graduated from Hortonville High School. She married Kenneth Edward Buchman on May 15, 1956 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville where Lois was a member of the Christian Ladies Society and part of the choir for many years.
Lois worked for Appleton State Bank in their various branches and from 1974 until her retirement in 1999 she worked in the cafeteria at Hortonville High School. She was known for her incredible meals and baked goods and was relied upon for many years to make the coleslaw for the Parish Lenten fish fries. Lois was a great bowler as evidenced in several articles in the local paper back in the day. She was also a darn good golfer and a longtime member of Grandview Golf Club in Hortonville. Lois very much enjoyed time with her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, reading, cribbage, weekly card games with her friends and any opportunity to hold a baby.
Lois is survived by her children, Denise (Ron) Steudel Hortonville, Brenda Buchman Marion NC, Kim (Mike) Detert Appleton, Kevin (Julie) Buchman Hortonville and Sara (Mike) Schultz Appleton; grandchildren, Joseph Steudel, Maggie (Ryan) Handler, Mitch (Amie) Steudel, Melissa Maroszek (special friend Ryan Uhlenbrauck), Brittany Detert (special friend Travis Turbett), Tanner (Danielle) Buchman, Amy (Tyler) Huss, Alex Schultz and Spencer Schultz.; great grandchildren, Teddy, Noelle, Robert, Ella, Bennett, Ava, Finley, Holden, Avari, Easton, Kennedy and Myla; sister in-law, Caroline Buchman and brother in-law, Doug Besaw. She is also survived by her best friend of 75 years, Beverly Sommers and her family.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents, Robert and Ella; brother, Robert Griesbach Jr.; brother and sister in-law, LeRoy and Joyce Griesbach; sister and brother in-law, June and Jerry Glaser; and sister, Kathy Besaw; father in-law and mother in-law, Leonard and Pearl Buchman; brother and sister in-law, Leonard Jr and Doris Buchman; brothers in-law, Richard and Charles; nephew, Christopher Buchman; Godson, Greg Griesbach; and niece, Debbie Kettner.
The Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville, with Father Phil Schoofs officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 8:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery at a later date.
Lois' family would like to thank Dr. Servais and Christy for their many years of care and comfort, as well as Tess from Thedacare Hospice, for her support and guidance. A special thank you also to Father Phil Schoofs for lovingly leading mom through her spiritual journey to heaven.
