Marie Schultz's Funeral Service

Marie (Hansen- Schmitt) Schultz, age 64, of New London, WI, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024, at Appleton Medical Center. Born on January 28, 1960, at Iola Hospital, she was the daughter of Nancy Wilhelm (Wayne) Handrich and Donald Hansen. Marie married Wayne Schmitt on December 17th, 1977 in Iola, WI. In May of 1990, Marie and Wayne's only child Joshua was welcomed into the family. Marie loved Joshua with all her heart and was so proud of him, often referring to him as her "miracle baby." They were married for 25 years. In 2002 Marie and Wayne divorced, but remained close and cordial to co-parent their son Josh. Marie married Ronald Schultz on November 8th, 2003, in Freedom, WI. Through marriage Marie inherited a stepdaughter, Donna and step- granddaughter Erika, whom she loved like her own.

Marie cherished her family and friends. Known for her vibrant personality and undeniable sass, Marie was a constant presence at family gatherings. She loved a crowd and throughout her life, her motto remained "the more, the merrier."

Marie was most proud when Josh granted her the title of "grandma" when her first granddaughter Layla was born in 2011. Having grown up with strong relationships with her own grandparents, Marie loved her grandchildren with all of her heart and cherished the time she spent with them.

Marie frequently visited Longevity Nutrition for her favorite shakes. An enthusiastic shopper, she loved finding special items, embracing each outing as an opportunity to socialize and enjoy her independence. A devoted animal lover, Marie cherished her Pomeranian dogs and cats, treating them as part of her family. Just as she was willing to step up and help an animal in need, she was known to extend the same helping hands to family and friends.

Marie will be remembered fondly by those who knew her for her delicate blend of being a fierce spitfire at time and her incredible kindness to both people and animals.

Marie leaves behind her husband of 21 years, Ronald Schultz (New London, WI); son, Joshua (Sarah) Schmitt, grandchildren: Layla, Kaylynn, Kylah, and Kyverson (New London, WI); step-daughter, Donna (Jose) Coronel (Appleton, WI); step-granddaughter, Erika (Joseph) Prince (Denver, CO); her mother, Nancy (Wayne) Handrich (Park Falls, WI); sister, Cheryl (Reuben Tetzlaff) Winters (Iola, WI); nieces: Felica (Adam Pankow) Winters (Waupaca, WI); Sheena (Mike Marose) Winters (Waupaca, WI); Corina Winters (Pine River, WI) and Uncle, Richard (Linda) Hansen (Hortonville, WI); Aunt Diane Vaughn (Waupaca, WI) and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Marie was preceeded in death by her father, Donald Hansen; maternal grandparents, Hubert (Margret) Wilhelm; paternal grandparents Coral Amy (Warren "Red") Hidde; In-laws, Fred (Ethel) Schultz; Uncle Myron "Mike" Vaughan.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at Appleton Medical Center for the care Marie received in her final days. This was an extremely difficult time and their kindness was greatly appreciated.

The Funeral Service for Marie will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home.  The visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
