Mary Ruhsam's Funeral Mass Video Mary E. Ruhsam, age 89, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022. She was born on February 27, 1933 in New London, Wisconsin, the firstborn child of Elizabeth Therese (Crain) Ruhsam and Gerhardt Julius Ruhsam. After graduating from Appleton School of Business in 1952, Mary started her lifelong career as a civil servant in the Outagamie County Clerk's Office. She advanced to the position of Deputy County Clerk, retiring from her 47-year career in 1999. A naturally social person, Mary took great joy from working with and serving the countless people she encountered over the years. Whether administering marriage licenses or assisting with election activities, Mary reveled in all aspects of her career.
All who knew Mary were familiar with her love of Elvis, polka music, the Packers, and movies. Mary loved to travel, and was able to savor and relive her experiences through her entire life because of her encyclopedic memory of even the most minute details. An "outdoor girl," Mary preferred any activities that occurred outside rather than inside. Never known for her cooking, she could nevertheless mow a lawn in the near-dark to linear perfection. Weeds had no chance in her yard.
The biggest drivers in Mary's life were her faith, family, and friends. Mary was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London for her entire life. She was always concerned for the well-being of others, particularly her family and friends; her kindness to all who she encountered over the years engendered friendships both old and new right up to the time of her death.
Mary made the world a better place because of her presence. She was a beloved sister, crazy aunt, godmother, great aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She is now reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in Heaven, where the weather is always perfect, polka music always plays, and the Green Bay Packers always have a winning season. Mary was a gem.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at 11:00 a.m on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
