Merlin Engel Memorial Service Video

Merlin George Engel, age 75 of New London passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025.  Merlin was born on October 10, 1949 in Appleton to the late Amos Andrew Frederick Engel and Laverne Gladys (Dreier) Engel.  He married Rose Marie Babino on October 17, 1970 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek.  In his teenage years, Merlin worked on a farm.  Following that he worked for a short time at FWD in Clintonville until he started at Hillshire Farms in New London.  Merlin worked there from 1970 until 2014, when he retired.

Merlin is survived by his wife, Rose; children Annette (Steven) Wilken, Cynthia Philippon, Lisa (Chad) Swinford, Renee (Tracy) Peebles, Tara (Joseph) Beasley, Craig (Amanda) Engel and Curt Engel; daughter-in-law, Stacy Engel and his sister, Diane (David) Mier.  He is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Merlin was preceded in death by his in-laws; his sons, Michael and Bradley; his brother, Gerald and sister, Judith.

The Memorial Service for Merlin will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Victory Church in New London with Pastor James Curtis officiating.  The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London at a later date.
