Mya Johnson's Funeral Service Video

Mya Johnson (Mary Stoeger), 79, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at home in Hortonville with family by her side. She was born August 1944, in Appleton, the daughter of Fred and Vera (Johnson) Stoeger. Mya had a strong Christian faith and love for family and friends. Mya had a strong work ethic, earning a college degree in Occupational Therapy with a fulfilling 20 year career. She enjoyed biking thousands of miles annually on the Wiouwash State Trail from Hortonville to Oshkosh (44 miles!). She loved playing games, being with her Greenville YMCA friends, knitting and crocheting, she loved her cat Missy, making pies, listening to Kenny Rogers and Neil Diamond, writing poems and watching the Green Bay Packers. Mya also looked forward to annual fall color trips with her children. In her later years, Mya found comfort spending time with her church family and various bible study groups. During her marriage to Gerald Voster, she was blessed with six children. She enjoyed nothing more than time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Mya is survived by her children; Jim (Sheila), Kurt (Theresa), Becky (friend Brian), Christopher, Steve (Jamie); grandchildren, Leah (Luis) Gamboa, Jerod (friend Katie), Thomas and Anna Voster; great grandchild, Rolando Gamboa. Mya is further survived by her sisters, Marion "Tootie" Maas, Joan "Dolly" Schmidt, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mya was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Vera; infant daughter, Theresa Voster; four brothers, Fred Stoeger Sr., Jerome Stoeger, Herbert Stoeger, Jimmy Stoeger; sister, Mildred Klein; brothers and sisters in-law, Robert Maas, Richard Schmidt and Fran Klein, Ruth Stoeger, Doris Stoeger; along with the father of her children, Gerald.

The Funeral Service for Mya will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Christus Lutheran Church N1915 Julius Dr. in Greenville, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Hortonville, Wisconsin at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to NAMI Fox Valley at nami.org

Mya's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to ThedaCare at Home Hospice, specifically, Holly, Tess and Lisa, Dr. Michelle, and Social Worker Erica for their compassion, dedication, and support, along with family and friends for the outpouring of kindness during this journey. Thank you to Reverend Erik Roth and Mya's church family at Christus Lutheran Church. Thank you to her neighbors, Ray & Marge, Kayla, and Ben & Mercedes (and children).  Also to her many trail buddies for their friendship, love and support.
