Obituary

Nancy L. Brownson, died peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2022. She was born on June 25, 1941 to the late Frank J. and Helen F. (Meyer) Kable. Nancy was the teacher's pet at the one room school she attended in the Town of Maine. She graduated from Shiocton High School, as salutatorian with the class of 1959, and attended UW-Oshkosh. She met her husband Robert J. Brownson in high school and they were homecoming king and queen in 1958. On April 30, 1960 they were united in marriage. In 2022, they celebrated 62 years.

Nancy was the Postmaster in Shiocton, retiring after 30 years of service, and did "stints" as Officer in Charge at the Pulaski, Little Chute and Manistique, MI post offices. Nancy was proud to be active in her community. From 1987-2022 Nancy served in several capacities as Village Trustee, President and Library Board President. She was a volunteer firefighter for the Shiocton-Bovina Fire Department. She was also one of the first women in the state to become a volunteer EMT.

Nancy was a vibrant, active woman and a generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, taking great joy showing up to any event or milestone she could, often bringing plenty of treats. She is also known for her cooking, baking, canning, and scrapbooking. Nancy enjoyed crafting with her Town of Maine group and visiting the coffee shop in the mornings, occasionally winning the shake of the day. She was perfectly content putting together puzzles or traveling to new destinations including Alaska, Hawaii, Scotland and Budapest. Nancy was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Robert and their four children and spouses: Brian (Amy) Brownson, Greg (Tina) Brownson, Amy (Ned) Roland, and Rob (Kris) Brownson.  Nine have been lucky to call her grandmother: Theresa (Ross) Frey, Emily Brownson, Katherine Brownson, Ben (Sarah) Brownson, Sarah (Peter) Gubbels, Michaela Roland, Alexa Roland, Amber (Josh) Peterson, and Emily (Mike) Miller. In addition, Nancy is survived by thirteen great-grandchildren: Joel, Elise, and Silas Frey; Timothy Kinkopf; Thomas and Elliot Brownson; Vivian and baby Gubbels (due in December); Brielle, Tayvah and Croix Peterson; Anthony and Johanna Miller. She is further survived by her brother, Edward Kable and Uncle William Faubel and other family members.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Kable, in-laws, Clarence and Agnes Brownson, sister in-law, Jean Kable, and great grandchild, Ayden Peterson along with other relatives.
