Nancy Nielson passed away at home on Friday, July 3, 2026 while resting peacefully.
Nancy was born Nancy Ellen Scott on March 23, 1948, the eldest of 10 children. A big part of her childhood was helping raise her brothers and sisters. She was a graduate of Seymour High School. Nancy married Keith Nielson on May 27, 1967 in Clintonville, Wisconsin. Together they had two boys, Kevin and Scott. Nancy loved being a mother and showed her love with her wonderful home cooking, taking care of the house and children, and spending time with family and friends. Nancy worked for many years at Faye R Smith Jewelry store in Downtown New London.
Nancy never wanted to be the center of attention. Her joy came from providing a home filled with love, laughter, and lots of delicious food. She was very proud of her boys and their families. She loved her pet cats over the years, often spoiling them with fresh shrimp or a little dish of ice cream. Christmas shopping and craft shows were something she looked forward to with her daughter-in-law, Kim. She liked to spend time with her three grandchildren – Amanda, Nathan & Matthew. When they were little, she and Keith would take the grandkids to Bay Beach in Green Bay or the Children’s Museum in Appleton. She and Keith loved to take the kids to Chuck-E-Cheese and were just as competitive as the kids when playing the games. They attended many Pop Warner Football games and little league baseball. The grandkids loved coming to Grandma & Grandpa Nielson’s, especially at Christmas when they would get to have Grandma’s Christmas punch. She always remembered their favorite snacks, and their stockings would be overflowing with games and treats she picked out just for them. Nancy would always open Christmas gifts slowly, which just meant that she wanted to enjoy the time with her family, and savor the moment. Nancy always supported the grandkids’ activities and was one of the first to order Girl Scout cookies or Boy Scout popcorn. The grandchildren never saw her angry or unhappy. She was always smiling and proud of everything they did. She never missed a birthday card, and always sent cards for holidays to remind them she was thinking of them. Most recently, she loved getting pictures and videos of her first great-grandson, Oliver.
Taking care of her family meant everything to her, and she did a wonderful job. Her children and grandchildren will always remember how much they meant to her. We thank her for the love, the laughter and the memories we have shared. She will be missed.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Kevin (Staci) Nielson and Scott (Kim) Nielson; grandchildren, Amanda (Jared) Block, Matthew Nielson, and Nathan Greely; along with her great grandson, Oliver Block. She is further survived by siblings, Randy (Mary) Scott, Wendy (Ken) Drath, Kelly Scott, Julie (Mike) Glatz, Connie (Jeff) Fischer, and Brenda (Rick) VandeCorput; brothers-in-law, Tim (Jackie) Nielson, and Carl Kleist; and sisters-in-law, Judy Huntley, Carole (Ken) Ebert, and Pat Scott.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Byron Scott; her sister, Cindy Kleist; and brothers, Lonny Scott and Charles Scott; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Owen and Elaine Nielson; and her niece, Lori Bucki.
Thanks to ThedaCare Home Hospice for the care and comfort provided to Nancy in her final weeks. Instead of flowers, please consider sending a small memorial gift to a local animal shelter, American Cancer Society, or Cancer Research Institute.
The Funeral Service for Nancy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London, Wisconsin, with Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Nancy will be buried at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville, Wisconsin.
