Patricia G. Dontje (Bohlen) passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026, at the age of 90.
Patricia was born on April 13, 1936, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to the late Edward and Rose Bohlen. She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Harding High School. In 1954, Patricia eloped with the love of her life, Stanley “Stan” Dontje, in Farmington, Iowa. Together, they began a life filled with family, hard work, laughter, and countless memories. In the late 1950s, they moved to Wisconsin, where they built their life and raised their five boys. Patricia loved her boys with all her heart, and her family was one of the greatest joys of her life.
Throughout the years, Patricia held a variety of jobs, including working as a radiology technologist at a hospital in St. Paul, a salesperson at Kmart, a bartender, an assembler at the Hortonville Toy Factory, and an employee of Guardian Life Insurance Company. No matter where life took her, Patricia brought her own personality and spirit to everything she did.
Anyone who knew Patricia knew she loved to shop, especially when there was a bargain to be found. Her favorite saying, “Give it a ride,” became a memorable part of who she was. She had a way of making ordinary moments memorable, and wherever she went, she was often the life of the party.
Some of Patricia’s happiest memories were made spending time with family and friends. Whether she was snowmobiling with her good friends Bill and Jeanie, enjoying tractor pulls with Stan and the family, or gathering around the table for Sunday dinners when the grandchildren were young, Patricia loved being surrounded by the people who meant the most to her. Those gatherings, filled with togetherness and laughter, created memories her family will cherish for years to come.
Patricia will be remembered for her love of family, her lively spirit, her enjoyment of a good bargain, and the special place she held in the hearts of those who knew her. Her love for her boys and her family was unwavering, and the memories she created will continue to bring smiles to those who loved her.
Patricia is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen Dontje; Daniel (Cynthia) Dontje, Timothy (Connie) Dontje, and Jamie (Jessica) Dontje; daughter-in-law, Beverly Dontje; her grandchildren, Joshua (Tina) Dontje, Jessi Dontje, Tad (Laura) Dontje, Jeremy (Angela) Dontje, Melissa (Mike) Dawes, Stephanie (Jason) Spitzmacher, DJ (Joy) Dontje, Dustin (Tara) Dontje, Samantha Dontje, Monica (Don) Hunt, Mathew (Casey) Ver Voort, Dustin (Melissa) Ver Voort, Justin Pomasl, and Jonathan Walters; her great-grandchildren, Zoey Dontje, Isaiah (Lyric) Strauch, Barrett Farrington, Landon Dontje, Levi Dontje, Mariah Dawes, Alana Dawes, Kylie Spitzmacher, Cole Spitzmacher, Brandt Spitzmacher, Madison Latham, Bella Dontje, Jozie Dontje, Owen Dontje, Evelynn Dontje, Elliot Dontje, Myles Dontje; great-great grandchildren Rastin Strauch, and Fenris Strauch; and her sister-in-law, Gerri Clark Worden.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Stan; her sons, Todd and Scott; her brother, Bill Bohlen; her sister-in-law, Sally McGowan; and her brother-in-law, Roger Clark.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Borchardt-Moder Funeral Home in Hortonville, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Bovina Cemetery on Monday, November 2, 2026.
