Patricia A. (McPeak) (Poepke) Moriarity, age 101, of New London, went to the Heavenly Father with her rosary in her hands and faith within her soul on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Pat was born on June 17, 1923 in Manawa, to Earl and Vera (Cron) McPeak. She was the second oldest of ten children. The McPeak family moved to New London in 1935. Pat graduated from New London Washington High School in 1940.

At age 17, she attended Oshkosh Teachers College for one year before entering Mercy School of Nursing, graduating in 1944. She married her high school sweetheart Navy Seaman Paul Poepke on December 2, 1944 in the Chapel at New London Community Hospital. After marriage, they moved to Washington DC where Paul was stationed in the Navy and Pat worked at Doctors Hospital, also in DC. When Paul was sent to Guam to serve in World War II, Pat returned to New London and worked as a Registered Nurse at New London Community Hospital.

After the War, Paul returned to New London and they began their life together and were blessed with six children: Jill, Paula, Mary, Kris, Debbie and Paul Jr. They were the most important part of their lives.  Pat's husband, Paul, died of leukemia in 1961at age 39. Pat promised her husband she would devote her life to raising their children. With help from family, friends and her unwavering faith in GOD she fulfilled that promise. Throughout this time, she continued working at NL Community Hospital where she was a dedicated nurse and loved working with the nuns and doctors and caring for the people in the community. Later on she worked at St. Josephs Nursing Home, retiring in 1988.

In 1987, New Dublin Irish Rose Pat married John Moriarity, a full-blooded Irishman. One can only imagine that!  Together Pat and John took pleasure golfing, traveling, attending their grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with family and friends.  John unexpectedly passed away in 1992. She later enjoyed companionship with Bud Stern, watching the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and taking Sunday country rides.

Pat was a sports enthusiast and faithfully attended her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's athletic activities.   She was a faithful member of MPB Catholic Church and attended Mass daily.  She was active in PCCW; helping at funeral lunches, and served  coffee & doughnuts after Sunday Mass. In 2016, Pat was New Dublin's Irish Rose. She was a member of Friends of the Museum and also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

Pat is survived by two daughters: Paula (Tom) Snider and Debbie (Bill) Krostue, and one son Paul (Carol) Poepke; three sons-in-law: Ken Kavanaugh, Paul Laubenstein and Mark Gass; one sister in-law: Patricia McPeak; one stepdaughter: Karen (Jim) George; two stepsons: John (Mary) Moriarity and David (Kathy) Moriarity;  14 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 9 step great- grandchildren and 4 step great-great-grandchildren, together with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, husband Paul Poepke and husband John Moriarity, Pat was preceded in death by daughters Jill Kavanaugh, Mary Laubenstein and Kris (Luft) Gass; stepdaughter Susan Moriarity; son-in-law Mark (Kris) Luft; grandchildren Jon Laubenstein and Sarah Krostue; sisters Vivian (George) Motto, Geraldine (Dave) Flanagan, Delores (Ted) Raschke, Sally (Pete) Jensen, Sharon (Bob) Peterson and Dawn Petersen; brothers Ercel (Betsy) McPeak, Terry (Ruth Ann) McPeak and Mike McPeak.

"May the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace."
Amen

The family would like to thank the staff at Trinity Terrace and St. Josephs for the wonderful compassionate care they gave to Pat and to Moments Hospice team for their support and comfort in her final days.
